Via Jezebel, a deeply confusing op-ed from the Aspen Times Weekly. Is it satire? Sincerity? Sheer douchebaggery? All of the above? Ultimately, one point is clear: The writer hates him some Hillary Clinton.

If you, like me, aren't sure you can stomach another season—'scuse me, "cycle"—of Tyra Banks, the two Jays, and a handful of hot messes who will never be models, but you still kind of want to keep up on the show, might I suggest reading the excellent recaps on SFGate.com's Culture Blog?

A lovely group of folks has organized a monthly Bitch-themed Think and Drink at the Florida Room, a local bar here in Portland. I had the pleasure of attending this month's meet-up, where we talked about everything from Hillary versus Obama, dogs versus cats, and cranky farm pigs and their geese friends (what can I say, I love me some animal stories?). They even fundraised for us! Apparently they heard the news that Briar likes her beer...

On the bus to work today, I read the new issue of $pread magazine. For those not familiar, $pread's mission is to build community and destigmatize sex work by providing a forum for people working in the industry. They publish interviews, feature articles, reviews, news, and personal stories of sex workers from all perspectives.

Even though the human, environmental and economic impact of Hurricane Katrina are all still deeply felt throughout the regions that were ravaged by the disaster, the ongoing personal and political tolls of Katrina have fallen away from the headlines and out of public debate. This is just one of many ways media have failed the American people their treatment of one of the worst natural disasters in the history of our country.

I awoke this morning to the news that the music magazine, No Depression, will cease publishing after its May/June issue. Citing many of the same reasons that other indie publications have closed their doors (check out the  story in Lost/Found issue of Bitch: Paper Cuts: Saying RIP to some of the best DIY), ND will move to web only content after 13 years of print publishing.

Bitch's quarterly issue release party and Pop Culture Debate Club are fast approaching!

Tina Fey's return to the Weekend Update chair included a big dollop of support for Hillary Clinton along with an argument for taking back the word bitch.
This could only have been better if she'd held up a copy of Bitch magazine!

Much as I had mixed feelings about the film Juno, I just don't understand the massive public hate-on for its screenwriter, Diablo Cody. Okay, she gave herself a stupid pen name. Juno had a couple of overly precious, cringeworthy lines of dialogue. Does that really warrant parodies like these?
