Feminist Perspectives in Pop Culture Lecture Series

"Feminist Perspectives in Pop Culture" is a four-evening series made possible by the generous funding of the Oregon Council for the Humanities and sponsored by Portland State Univeristy’s Women’s Resource Center.

Feminist culture-makers, commentators, historians, scholars, and artists are often missing from discussions of current events to art to activism, and we want to do our part to expand from the written world to the virtual world to the spoken word.

Feminism In/Action

Feminism In/Action is an ongoing series of participatory discussions about issues of privilege, power, difference, and action/inaction in contemporary feminisms. Bitch director/publisher Debbie Rasmussen is facilitating these discussions in varoius cities and communities around the country, asking the question, "Can the idea of feminism shift towards a transformative, justice-centered movement for social change, or is it time to evolve to new language?"

Discussions have already taken place in:

Detroit
Milwaukee
Madison
Minneapolis
Lincoln
Denver
Salt Lake City
Eugene
San Diego
Los Angeles

More cities/communities to come.
