"Feminist Perspectives in Pop Culture" lecture series update!

B-sides blog post by Amy S. Williams, August 21, 2008 - 3:44pm;

Good news for anyone who can make it to Portland, Oregon for the inaugural B-Word/Bitch lecture series, Feminist Perspectives in Pop Culture! We've got three of the four speakers lined up and tickets go on sale next
week. Come one, come all! Get the series pass!

If you can't be here in Portland there are ways to get involved in supporting the series: buy a pass to give out to someone who couldn't otherwise be there (email amy@b-word.org if you are interested), support our speakers, and consider donating to support the ongoing growth of the series so we can take it to a national level by 2010.

You may be wondering why we are beginning this new project (or you may not be, but I implore you to keep reading). Well,  feminist culture-makers, commentators, historians, scholars, and artists are often missing from discussions about everything from current events to art to activism (but you all already knew that) and we want to do our part to expand from the written world to the virtual world to the spoken sphere. This is our first attempt at the spoken sphere - we'll keep you posted on how it goes, or better yet, if you attend the series, comment on how it went and how it could be better.

Now, for the line-up...

All lectures begin at 7pm at Smith Memorial Ballroom at Portland State University.

For tickets (get the series pass for $30!), call (888) 847-8457 or go to the PSU box office at 1825 SW Broadway.

Keep feminist culture-makers, commentators, historians, scholars, and artists' voices alive and heard!
